Position Summary
PASS Camp Staff will facilitate Pioneer Athletic Super Summer (P.A.S.S.) camp youth programming activities at the Ritchie Center and the University of Denver campus
P.A.S.S. Camp takes place on the University of Denver campus from May 30th through August 18th. Camp hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Work schedules are developed based on employee availability and interest and range from 10 – 40 hours per week.
This posting serves for a range of positions. Positions include:
PASS Camp Counselor – Aide
PASS Camp Counselor – Lead (460 hours verifiable paid childcare/youth coaching experience)
PASS Camp Coordinator
PASS Camp Assistant
All camp employees will be required to attend in-person camp training in the evenings May 15-19, 2023.
Essential Functions
- Support the division of Athletics and Recreation in the execution of its youth programming opportunities
- Provide excellent customer service for all Ritchie Center participants and customers
- Recognize and respond effectively and efficiently to emergencies
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment
- Able to work both individually and as part of a team
- Provide supervision and support of camp environment, participants and staff
- Perform administrative tasks to support camp operations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, or willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Employees working in licensed child care programs will be required to complete additional background checks and training as required by Colorado child care licensing (paid for by the University of Denver)
- 460 hours of verifiable work with school-age children (preferred, depending on position)
- Passion for working with youth in a recreation/sport setting
- Specific sport knowledge or experience (preferred, depending on position)
- Experience instructing sports and/or working with youth (preferred)
Work Environment
- Indoor & Outdoor Locations (approximately 35% indoor, 65% outdoor)
- Summer heat conditions & sun exposure when outdoors
- Variety of sporting venues including indoor swimming pool, tennis court, grass & turf fields, gymnastics gym, climbing wall and ice skating rink.
Physical Activities
- Walking to move throughout Ritchie Center & field spaces (2+ miles/shift)
- Playing sports & active games
- Standing/being physically active for majority of shift
- Swimming (dependent on position)
- Ice Skating (dependent on position)
- Lifting equipment/children up to 50 lbs

Salary Grade Number

Hourly Range:
The hourly ranges for these positions are:
PASS Camp Counselor – Aide $18.00/hour
PASS Camp Counselor – Lead $19.00-20.00/hour (460 hours verifiable paid childcare/youth coaching experience)
PASS Camp Coordinator – $20.00-22.00/hour
PASS Camp Assistant – $18.00/hour
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
