Program Manager, Marsico Institute for Early Learning

The Marsico Institute for Early Learning and Literacy is housed in the Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver. We have dedicated ourselves to improving learning environments and outcomes for children, birth to age 8 by identifying the best in early learning research, practice, and policy.

Position Summary

The Marsico Institute for Early Learning and Literacy is accepting applications for the Program Manager. Under the direct supervision of the associate director, this position will support pre- and post-award grant administration and will carry out both administrative support and research tasks for the Institute.

Essential Functions

  • Support all programs, research, communications, grants, finances, and facilitate coordination between projects. In this capacity, the program manager will be responsible for:
    • Conduct field assessments and observations related to early childhood education.
    • Manage assessors and observation teams, including coordinating assessment scheduling with partner sites.
    • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with various external partners including faculty in various departments and universities, practitioners, and survey panel vendors.
    • Coordinate with the leadership team to monitor proposal development progress, coordinate related activities with investigators, and ensure compliance with proposal submission requirements, including IRB.
    • Assist the assistant director in negotiating, processing, and monitoring contracts and subcontracts relating to the administration of grants and special projects.
    • Maintain records documenting progress on award milestones and deliverable and assist PIs with monitoring spending and preparing annual and final reports and coordinate the preparation and submission of all necessary forms and institutional data, as required by regulations, university policy, sponsors, and clients.
    • Assure compliance regarding data security and technology resources.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with principal investigators, sponsoring agencies, management, and others.
  • Comfort with using spreadsheets, including advanced features and functionality.
  • Ability to comprehend contractual documents.
  • Strong customer service skills and well-developed communication skill level.
  • Utilizes skills in problem-solving and the ability to consider multiple alternatives.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions independently and seek assistance as appropriate.
  • Ability to work and lead within a team environment, building professional work relationships with coworkers, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work independently.
  • Ability to travel to off-site grant-related professional development programs.
  • Ability to uphold ethical practices amid complicated situations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, math education, or related field
  • 3 years of related work experience
  • Qualitative research experience
  • English language proficiency

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $52,000-$60,000
