Job Description
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
As an IP and Contract Specialist, you will assist with all phases of patent portfolio management including invention disclosure intake, organizing and leading patent committee meetings, preparation of patent prosecution files, and docketing and deadline maintenance of domestic and foreign patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will support the trademark portfolio by tracking all active trademarks and providing preliminary guidance to business clients in the use and selection of trademarks. Additionally, the ideal candidate will assist in the review of commercial contract terms and conditions, including drafting amendments and managing contract drafts.
- Docketing new patent case filings, incoming office actions, and correspondence (PTO, PCT, and Foreign Associate)
- Advising attorneys of issues relevant to managing the docket
- Assisting in quality assurance review for patent filings by noting and referring any errors or omissions observed during docketing duties
- Monitoring and reporting on docket status, patent annuities, and maintenance fees
- Assisting in checking and updating the status of patent cases with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices when appropriate
- Preparing documents for electronic filing with the USPTO and foreign patent offices
- Performing preliminary “knockout” searches for potential trademarks
Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- At least 5 years of US and foreign patent docketing experience
- Familiarity with CPI or a similar docketing system, and strong organization and communication skills
- The ideal candidate should have experience assisting on various commercial agreements, including review of contract terms and conditions, drafting amendments, and updating drafts

The compensation range for this position is approximately $88,000 – $116,600 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education.
