Minimum Qualifications

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of bachelor’s degree.

Position Summary

Assist with the daily operations of the Sports Communications Office and Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Sports Communications. Coordinate media relations and manage several media relations programs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign graphics program, layout design, media relation principles in university athletic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, good organizational skills, management administration, and ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
  • Should be a team player, willing and able to learn new concepts and processes, and willing to travel for various sporting events. Ability to work non-traditional hours to include some nights, weekends, and holidays.

Light office duties and activities. Stand, walk, use hands and arms. Will periodically lift and carry boxes or equipment that weighs up to 25 pounds.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

Assist in the developing and coordinating sports communications office media communication, events, and logistics. Responsible for communication with internal and external entities and assuring technical support for each event. Order meals for press conferences and press boxes.

Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with the organization of press conferences, interview schedules for coaches and student-athletes, and formulation and transmission of media advisories.

Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities

Responsible for organizing student office and event work schedules.

Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

Other administrative duties or special projects as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Sports Communications.
