The Position
Prescient Design seeks an exceptional and experienced Senior Program Manager to lead our Lab-in-the-Loop for antibody design, a novel framework for human-in-the-loop drug discovery driven by cutting-edge machine learning research. The ideal candidate will have a background in structural biology and machine learning and will be responsible for leading a team of scientists and engineers to deliver successful designs. The Senior Program Manager will work with group leads across Prescient and will work closely with cross-functional teams within Genentech and Roche.
Prescient Design provides an exciting, dynamic environment for multi-disciplinary research including close links to top academic institutions around the world, as well as internal Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) partners and collaborators at research units across Roche. This role will help shape Prescient’s culture of innovation and drive the strategic direction for the team and platform in transforming in silico drug design.
The Role
- Lead the development of the Lab-in-the-Loop platform, ensuring that designs are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams across both Prescient Design and Genentech / Roche, providing guidance and support to ensure that project objectives are met and that Lab-in-the-Loop platform meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress against these plans, providing regular updates to senior leadership at Prescient and its experimental collaborators in gRED Antibody Engineering (AE).
- Collaborate with external partners, including academic institutions and contract research organizations, to leverage their expertise and resources
- Providing technical expertise in structural biology and machine learning, as needed, to guide project decision-making. Identify and mitigate project risks, and escalate issues as appropriate.
- You will be based in South San Francisco, but with the possibility of travel to Prescient’s NYC Headquarters.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in structural biology, biochemistry, computational biology, computer science, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in project management, with a track record of successful product launches.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners and communicate data and results to senior management.
- Experience with drug discovery and development. Familiarity with machine learning desired.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Experience organizing and coordinating complex projects with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with communication and productivity tools like Slack and Notion
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with one or more machine learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX
- Ph.D. in structural biology, biochemistry, computational biology, computer science, or a related field.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco is $125,600 and $233,200 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
