SPECIAL NOTES:
A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admittance to the Florida Bar required.
Senior Attorney positions require a minimum of two (2) years of legal experience.
Preference will be given to applicants who have two (2) year’s legal experience with procurement and contracting responsibilities for a public or private entity or two (2) year’s legal experience with rule promulgation responsibilities for a public or private entity.
The expected hiring salary range is $63,612.00 to $75,000.00depending upon experience.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and either Westlaw or Lexis/Nexis legal research tools.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Contracts & Rulemaking section represents DFS and its 13 divisions with contract drafting, amending, editing, and negotiating to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws. Attorneys in this section play a key role in competitive solicitations pursuant to chapters 120 and 287, Florida Statutes, by providing legal counsel to the contracting divisions and the Office of Purchasing and Contractual Services. The attorneys also handle all aspects of rule promulgation for the Department including drafting, analysis, legal research, conducting workshops and hearings, and managing rule challenges.
