SPECIAL NOTES:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Computer Science or Information Technology-related field, such as cybersecurity, programming, computer science, engineering or similar is required OR a combination of college coursework and experience as described above may also be interchanged. Professional work experience can quality on a year-by-year basis in place of the required education. College coursework will be considered the equivalent of experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours on a year for year basis.

Additional requirements:

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Data Base Analyst.
  • Competency with SQL and the SQL Server
  • Proficiency in the English language.

Preferences:

  • Adept interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient business analyst skills.
  • Experience as an application programmer with preference in SQL language.

The salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of DBMS software.
  • Ability to communicate with external and internal customers and teams in order to solve database related problems.
  • Ability to assist in the design of data base systems.
  • Ability to write and debug SQL.
  • Ability to provide technical help to developers in writing SQL Deploy changes to UAT and Production.
  • Ability to solve problems in a quick and efficient manner and work with other teams to resolve issues.
  • Ability to help developers and application users resolve database connectivity issues which may be ODBC, or PC configuration issues.
  • Ability to perform partial and full database recoveries.
  • Ability to communicate with Control M Admin to help manage database jobs and log files.
  • Ability to use SQL Server’s Management Studio

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position will design, develop, document, analyze, create, test, and modify computer databases or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or software design specifications; review project requests for changes to existing applications and implementation of new software; coordinate database related activities and provide authoritative information or advice to affected bureaus, sections and inform them of planned changes and the impact of proposed changes or new software. This position will also document appropriate DBA related processes and work with developers to assist in their deployment processes.

Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases, ensuring database integrity is maintained through the implementation and enforcement of software control security to deter unauthorized access or alteration of database file backup and recovery procedures.

Install and configure database operating systems. Test, correct errors, and implement changes to programs or to database.
