KOMU 8 is seeking applications for a new Creative Services Director. The Creative Services Director is responsible for the development and execution of brand building strategies to grow audience engagement, and revenue opportunities on all platforms. This position will lead the Creative Services and Station Promotion teams. The ideal candidate will inspire creative excellence and have extensive production skills, advanced knowledge of design, the post-production process, and Adobe Creative Suite. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience managing a team, developing long-range strategies and plans, and be an outstanding communicator.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing and managing a departmental budget within the approved amount.
  • Recruit, develop and lead the Creative Services/Promotion team.
  • Collaborate with Sales Management and Account Executives to create a mutually beneficial relationship with clients in the community.
  • Engage with sales managers to create revenue-generating promotions.
  • Help KOMU 8’s local advertisers create compelling and engaging marketing messages.
  • Properly coordinate and meet deadlines for all aspects of Commercial Production, including working with clients, sales staff and agencies while employing strong client service skills
  • Collaborate with the General Manager, News Director and station Consultant on brand marketing strategies and objectives to grow audience for KOMU 8 properties.
  • Identify and execute new creative opportunities that “raise the bar” and ensure it meets thresholds for quality, clarity, relevance, and other brand health dimensions.
  • Produce scripts, storyboards, copy and creative for brand campaigns, topicals, programming, digital, social media, radio, print, outdoor and more. Manage projects from idea to execution.
  • Design graphics and animations for broadcast, digital/social, and print.
  • Manage public service brand and initiatives including community events sponsored by KOMU 8.
  • Manage all creative production technology – ensuring the station has best in class tools, that they are in active use and monitor maintenance.
  • Train team on copywriting, production, post-production, and graphic design best practices. Mentor and inspire higher quality work.

Salary

Salary Range: $63,000 – $72,000 annually

Grade: GGS 011

Shift

Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Flexible hours may be necessary on occasion, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in marketing, art, advertising, communications, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in television production or multimedia creative, promotions, and production.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator)
  • Extensive production skills of both short and long form content.
  • Ability to write, shoot and edit content that tells a compelling story for broadcast, digital/social, and print.
  • A strong understanding of fundamental design, sense of color, graphics, and composition.
  • Advanced knowledge of the post-production process, media management, encoding video to various formats, maintaining digital assets, archives and edit systems.
  • Understanding of digital and social media marketing.
  • Experience in establishing long-range strategies and plans.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organization and time management skills in a fast-paced environment including ability to manage, prioritize, and track multiple projects while still meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable in both Mac & PC environments.
