Summary

Prepare tax compliance and help to provide tax technical support and insight into tax issues. Assist in maintaining accurate tax records through reconciliation and review of department work. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable regulatory and legal requirements.

*Hybrid Opportunity – 2 days in-office/3 remote

Essential Functions

  • Preparation of state and local filings for premium taxes, surcharges and assessments, state income taxes, personal property taxes, and other state filings as required.
  • Prepare tax accounting entries as required and participate in analysis of tax accounting issues, budget analysis, and other account analysis as required.
  • Assist in gathering information to respond to notices and tax inquiries as required.
  • Preparation of tax information reporting returns, such as form 1099-MISC and NEC. Work to maintain accuracy of company records through TIN matching and responding to recipient queries.
  • Support of the federal tax return and federal tax provision process as required.
  • Sales and use tax review and sales and use tax return preparation as required. Assist with sales tax queries from other areas of the company.
  • Project work to support tax department initiatives and system changes as required.

Knowledge & Requirements

  • Knowledge of state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be proficient in Excel

Education & Experience

  • B.S. required with a concentration in Accounting or Tax. Preferred.
  • 3+ years of Accounting or Tax experience preferred.

The salary range for this position is $60,500-$99,800.The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective’s footprint. Additional considerations include the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
