JOB SUMMARY

The Cook reports to the Program Director and prepares quality meals for the facility in compliance with all contractual, state, and local health department guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare meals following approved menus that meet nutritional standards consistent with the CDCR’s DOM section 54080.
  2. Be responsible for the efficient operation of culinary area.
  3. May work with and be a resource to residents assisting with food preparations.
  4. Responsible for managing and complying with program food services budget.
  5. Purchase of food and program supplies ensuring that food is stored and served in accordance with all State and local health department sanitation requirements.
  6. Conduct daily sanitation of kitchen and food storage areas.
  7. Conduct daily food sampling of all meals served during a 24-hour period for possible contamination.
  8. Conduct weekly food inventory. Maintain all responsibilities to in-kind donations including pick-ups. Maintain appropriate monthly reports for all donations.
  9. Assist full time cook with preparing Food-link reports on monthly basis.
  10. Ensure that safety procedures for knives are followed.
  11. Thinks and acts quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  12. Will drive on Agency business as needed.
  13. Physical presence at the program is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. High school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of full-time experience.
  2. Food Handlers certification.
  3. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  4. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  5. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  6. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  7. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
  8. Must maintain good relationships with current, future and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.
