* This position may be filled at the Payroll Specialist I or Payroll Specialist II level dependent on candidate qualifications. Upon successfully completing onboarding, employees may be eligible to work remotely up to three days per week with a two days per week in office requirement.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Total Rewards and in collaboration with HR professionals from multiple disciplines, the Payroll Specialist serves Grant PUD employees and supervisors by ensuring all employees receive accurate and timely pay.
Duties of the Payroll Specialist include:
- Responding to payroll related inquiries and resolving employee payroll inquiries and concerns
- Provide support to all HR Teammates as needed
- Reconciling timesheets
- Maintaining payroll information and entering data into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Preparing and distributing all aspects of employee payments
- Interpreting and applying bargaining unit language for payroll purposes
- Preparing payroll reports
- Calculating payroll liabilities and taxes
- Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
- Performing required audits to ensure accurate payroll
- Reconciling payroll related accounts comparing systems reports to general ledge balances
- Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management
- Assist with yearend payroll processes

Payroll Specialist I Qualifications
Required
- Excellent customer service and collaboration skills
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in payroll or a similar role.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices.
- Experience working with accounting and payroll software systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High numerical aptitude.
- Detail-oriented.
- A valid State driver’s license.
Preferred
- Associates degree or higher in accounting, mathematics, business administration, or closely related field.
Payroll Specialist II Qualifications
Required
- Excellent customer service and collaboration skills
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience working in payroll or a similar role.
- Intermediate level knowledge of basic payroll and accounting principles and payroll practices.
- Experience working with accounting/payroll software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High numerical aptitude.
- Detail-oriented.
Preferred
- Payroll or HR certification.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, mathematics, business administration, or a related field.
License and Certification
Required
- A valid State driver’s license.
Preferred
- Associates degree or higher in accounting, mathematics, business administration, or closely related field.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill in demonstrated interpersonal skills, average Microsoft Office skills, proficiency in using Excel.
- Knowledge of current, general knowledge of HR principles and federal and state employment laws.
