Sr. Cost Accounting Manager

Compensation Description

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $120,000 – $140,000 annually.

The Position

Arrowhead seeks a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to join its Finance and Accounting Team. This individual will report into Arrowhead’s Corporate Controller and will be responsible for continued development, implementation and maintenance of drug product inventory accounting and cost analysis. In this highly visible role, this individual will partner with other key areas such as Manufacturing, Quality and Procurement to implement new processes as the Company expands its in-house drug manufacturing capabilities. The individual will also work closely with members of the Finance and Accounting Team and will collaborate with Arrowhead Madison’s operations departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development & ongoing management of costing method/process for new products and for labor and overhead allocations, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting guidance
  • Establish and maintain bills of material, product routings, material, labor and overhead costs
  • Plan, collect, and analyze data to drive the standard cost revaluation processes; implement cost updates periodically
  • Assist in the assessment of systems requirements for the accounting department in support of organizational growth; assist in ERP and other accounting systems implementations
  • Assist in tracking and documenting costs associated with Arrowhead’s collaboration and licensing agreements, working collaboratively with other members of Operations & Partnership finance
  • Participate in all financial cycle close, prepare journal entries related to cost allocation, inventory adjustments, and reserves analysis, analyze and reconcile key inventory related accounts
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting related to costing and inventory
  • Prepare COGS calculations and analysis as needed
  • Report and analyze cost variances to the standard, help identify cost saving opportunities
  • Coordinates inventory related activities including cycle count and physical inventory
  • Assist in developing processes and utilizing systems enhancements to ensure inventory control and the accuracy of inventory data
  • Responsible to maintain perpetual inventory system, ongoing maintenance & future enhancements
  • Ensure that internal controls related to inventory costing process are in compliance
  • Implement changes to improve process efficiency as needed
  • Manage relationships with functional department heads across the organization, staying abreast of strategic needs that may drive changes to financial policies, tools and risk management
  • Other related duties, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • 7+ years of demonstrated cost accounting experience and a proficient understanding of accounting principles, preferably in a biotech/pharma or process manufacturing environment
  • CPA Designation
  • Month-end close, reconciliation and reporting experience
  • Experience with actual and standard costing methods
  • Knowledge of ERP processes and controls, preferably Microsoft Dynamics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel – pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret information for completeness and accuracy; excellent attention to detail; excellent organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated history of identifying problems, researching and recommending resolutions
  • Flexibility to put in extra hours during critical times such as month, quarter and year-end close cycles
  • Strong time management with the ability to work independently and in a group setting
