Description

Colorado Academy seeks a Visual Art faculty position to teach grades Pre-K through 3. This is a full-time, ongoing appointment. The position begins in August 2023 and reports directly to the Director of Visual & Performing Arts.

We seek candidates who have a passion for empowering young artists to find and use their artistic voice, in and out of the studio. We seek an artist and educator who strives for excellence in production, while the focus of teaching remains heavily on the creative process. Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in grades Pre-K through 3 in a progressive, choice-based, and expressive arts curriculum, consisting of, but not limited to skills in drawing, painting, mixed-media and sculpture
  • Manage classroom and teach to multiple grade levels in a way that matches the individual needs of student artists in a child-centered learning environment
  • Create a positive learning environment following the Responsive Classroom approach
  • Evaluate student progress and performance in art, as well as in areas of social interaction, behavior, and emotional growth, and effectively communicate students’ performance to parents, the Director of Arts, and the Divisional Head when necessary
  • Participate in curriculum development with Pre-K – 5th Grades and within the Visual Arts Department
  • Attend faculty and staff meetings, department meetings, and professional day opportunities
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with fellow Visual Art instructors in a dynamic, multi-divisional art department to display art and host various art events, including CA’s Pre-K-8 Art Showcase and the All-School Arts Festival
  • Support Lower School programs
  • Perform other assigned duties (recess, car line, etc.)
  • Support rules of conduct and discipline to create a suitable learning environment in the studio and during recess

Requirements

  • Elementary teacher certification in K-12 Art
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
  • Classroom experience (minimum 3 years)
  • Effective and supportive communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Technology literacy skills

The pay range for the position is $60,000 – $80,000. Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any discrepancies that may exist do not relate to sex.
