Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking an on-site copywriter who is passionate, curious, and constantly exploring new ways to elevate the creative through stories that help turn shoppers into buyers. This writer will work closely with art directors and other teams to create and execute concepts and own specific copy deliverables. The copywriter is expected to demonstrate ownership in contributing to the development of ideas, content, and copy and create polished, final deliverables. Must be someone willing to stay on top of trends in our brands’ categories, competitive brands, and the physical and digital retail landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • A love of collaborating with your team members – creative directors, art directors, designers, coders and other equally talented eccentrics – to consistently deliver polished, award-worthy work
  • Understands and follows brand style guides
  • Iterates copy options and ideas to get to the best possible output
  • Supports an assigned business account (may help other creative teams/businesses and in pitches as capacity allows)
  • Completes revision orders and assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Experience on large cross-channel and/or direct-marketing initiatives across media, both online and off
  • Experience writing long-form corporate communications or editorial content as well as short-form copy and social media content
  • Demonstrates SSX’s high quality standards across all deliverables.
  • Partners with senior creative or project leads to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with the brand and retailers’ tone of voice
  • Solves problems with a “nothing is impossible” attitude
  • Participates in brainstorms and able to provide a creative POV, grounded in the creative brief
  • Uses internal creative reviews for practice presenting and articulating the “why” behind the copy
  • Partners with the art director in concepting and bringing ideas to life through art and copy that tell a holistic story

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, marketing, or similar field is required
  • 3-5 years in an advertising or marketing agency (traditional or interactive) preferred
  • Exceptional portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking
  • Exceptional portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking
  • Outstanding writing skills, including the ability to write in a range of voices and styles
  • Successful experience in editorial and long-form
  • Expertise in strategic brainstorming, campaign development and creative execution
  • Acute attention to detail within tight turnarounds and demanding deadlines
  • Technologically proficient with an understanding of social media and other web-based platforms

Compensation Range: $64,000 – $75,000. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
