Official Position Description:
Independently assesses all training needs for specific target population or subject matter (i.e., individual classes utilizing equipment operator training program for internal & external customers statewide) & plans training activities to meet those needs. Develops & utilizes effective methods to assist managers in identifying staff training needs (e.g., assists managers with training-related aspects of performance improvement plans, conducts needs assessments & strategic planning sessions with managers) & develops & implements courses to meet those needs. Develops course content based on valid job assessments. During equipment operation training, proficiently operates basic, standard & complex equipment (e.g., dump truck, loader, dozer, grader, backhoe) for demonstration purposes. Conducts training programs (e.g., prepares materials & acts as instructor, conducts workshops, reviews & revises training materials, coordinates preparation & utilization of division promotional displays & materials). Travels throughout district to provide classes at ODOT facilities. Travels throughout state to serve as onsite training for On-the-Job Training (OJT)/classes at all work sites.
Utilizes computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel & SharePoint) to maintain records & prepare reports related to training activities (e.g., compiles training date(s), prepares correspondence & disseminates information regarding training schedule & course materials; maintains employee training files). Utilizes personal computer (e.g., ODOT Learn, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint) to facilitate training sessions & perform training-related tasks. Maintains facilities & equipment (e.g., cleans equipment; mows grass; loads, unloads & transports equipment). Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
6 courses in human resources, education, sociology or psychology or 18 mos exp in preparing informational or
instructional programs; 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in public speaking or effective communications skills; 3 mos trg or 3 mos
exp in operating audio visual equipment.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
PSMQ: Requires Class A CDL with tanker endorsement without: 1. airbrake restriction 2. (E) automatic transmission 3. (O) pintel hitch & at least 2 yrs of experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) OR Requires Class A CDL with tanker endorsement without: 4. airbrake restriction 5. (E) automatic transmission 6. (O) pintel hitch & at least 2 yrs of experience as a Behind-the wheel (BTW) CMV instructor
