What You Will Do:
- Serve as the UAS Remote Pilot for Northern Ohio
- Operate a UAS and various sensors on transportation projects and infrastructure
- Operate a UAS in support of shared service agreements with other state agencies
- Process UAS data utilizing processing software such as Pix4D, ContextCapture, etc.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in UAS focused research and other projects
- Serve as an advocate and liaison for UAS integration for Northern Ohio
Who we are looking for:
- Individual has already obtained UAS Remote Pilot Part 107 License
- Individual has GIS and aviation background/understanding
- Experience with UAS flight operations and various sensors
- Experience with UAS data processing software
- Willing to travel almost daily depending on operational need

Official Position Description:
Manages & coordinates maintenance of UAS geo-spatial data to include database applications, design & creation, ensures compatibility of logical database design with appropriate hardware & software, formulates & implements geo-spatial database program policies & procedures, develops & enforces data standards. Develops & enforces data standards to include data capture, coding schemes, database designs, data documentation, data dictionaries, index & data archiving procedures; develops & oversees enforcement of data quality control procedures; coordinates activities in data transfer & translation. Participates or reviews conceptual & detailed designs for new or modified database elements; establishes & enforces procedures for data access & security & access rights. Investigates new technological advances related to spatial data capture, manipulation & storage. Develops & utilizes (e.g., Microsoft Office) to develop correspondence, reports, procedures & program guidance as it relates to UAS operations. Represents UAS Center at meetings & conferences with state, federal & community agencies. Travels within & outside of Ohio (including overnight stays) to attend conferences & conduct UAS operations.
Travels throughout the state of Ohio & oversees Ohio Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations on behalf of the UAS Center; manages & directs regional flight teams; develops & implements policies & procedures for flight operations & data collection; designs & schedules UAS operations for regional flight teams. Implements safety management systems, risk analysis & assessment, UAS operations, pilot currency, observer & aircraft certifications &/or standards, communications management & data/record management.
Oversees the coordination of necessary support & services required for successful UAS operations. Collects & analyzes data from UAS operations, provides data processing from UAS flights using a variety of flight management systems & data processing software (e.g., UCGS, Mission Planner, Pix4D, ContextCapture); disseminates data & information to end user.
Qualifications
Completion of graduate core program in computer science to include data structures, data base & information management & data base systems; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in budgeting, -Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science to include data structures, data base & information management & data base systems; 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in budgeting, -Or 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in database & information management & data base systems & use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in budgeting, -Or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. as GIMS Specialist 2, 85772. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
