Wage: $48,000-54,000 Annually

Position Summary:

Responsible for service and management of the Front of the House in a manner most pleasing to guests, while following Suburban Inns’ Core Values, Suburban Inns/Big E’s standards, and local health department standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Report to work in professional attire, presented neat and clean
  • Greet all guests in a friendly, positive manner. Ask questions of guests and make personal connections to make them feel they are welcome and valued
  • Anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of our guests, then go one step further
  • Schedule Front of House (FOH) personnel according to labor guidelines established by the General Manager
  • Conduct classrooms and training for all FOH personnel
  • Facilitate staff meetings as needed
  • Assure the correct appearance, cleanliness, and safety of FOH areas, equipment, and fixtures
  • Assist with inventory as delegated by management
  • Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction
  • Implement local store marketing (LSM), including sales calls
  • Promote and implement ScoreCard program
  • Maintain a suggestive selling program to increase dining room business and direct FOH Team Member sales increase contests
  • Assist in service of guests as needed
  • Generate, carry-out, and follow-through on all service recovery efforts
  • Ensure reservations are accurate
  • Establish floor charts
  • Implement side work, opening, and closing procedures
  • Lead, Manage, and Hold Team Members accountable to the standards of employment and job performance set by the core values of Suburban Inns and IHG. Discipline Team Members as needed, according to Suburban Inns’ policies
  • Monitor FOH Team Member hours to ensure compliance with posted schedules
  • Make cuts at the end of the night so not to effect guest service standards, but also positively impact labor cost goals
  • Check-out FOH and BOH staff at close to ensure all tasks are completed according to Suburban Inns standards
  • Close out the business day by conducting cash handling procedures (safe count, balance drawers, drops, accurate deposits)
  • Assure that the dining room areas are secure at the end of the business day
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the building and staff
  • Maintain basic knowledge of the P&L
  • Submit ideas for future goals, operational improvements, and personnel management to the Assistant General Manager
  • Taste and consume alcohol for company business, limited at the discretion of the General Manager
  • Multitask with many different moving distractions
  • Uphold non-negotiable standards
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings
  • Follow all Suburban Inns Processes
  • Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance records
  • Other duties as requested by management

Position Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge: Requires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions. May require typing, record keeping, or word processing. Good communication skills

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: High school degree or equivalent related experience required. One year job related experience

License, Registration, and/or Certification Required: ServSafe and TIPS Certifications (may be completed upon hire)

Uniform and Appearance Guidelines:

Uniform: Uniform and name tag provided. Close-toed, non-slip shoes are the responsibility of the Team Member.

Appearance: Hair must be kept well-groomed. Any tattoo that is deemed offensive to co-workers, guests, vendors or others in the workplace based on racial, sexual, religious, ethnic, or other characteristics or attributes of a sensitive or legally protected nature are not permitted and must remain covered or concealed at all times.
