As a part of the Windows Privacy, Compliance and Trust organization , the Product Release and Security Services (PRSS) team is responsible for foundational services to the Microsoft software and hardware supply chains. Examples of Microsoft services that reside on our network include PKI certificate management, code signing, scanning for malware, software distribution, and hardware & software licensing. The PRSS Secure Topology team (Network, Security+, and Storage) is continually designing, automating, and improving the security and availability of our high-security environments that host mission critical services. We currently manage multiple purpose-built, highly secure facilities and manage 1000’s of devices at enterprise scale.
We are looking for a Cloud Network Engineer to help design, automate, deploy, monitor, and operate our core network. IWe are buiding a secure datacenter (DC) in the Phoenix area. The Cloud Network Engineer will be a key contributor/leader in bringing a new secure DC to life from the ground up. In this role, you will be part of a multidiscipline team and learn from a peer group of industry experts which will expose you to opportunities for professional growth and development. During your ramp-up period, you will travel to Redmond, Washington for one week each month for training and onsite work at Microsoft’s corporate headquarters.

Responsibilities:
- Partner with Network, Security+, and Storage peers to design highly secure and available private cloud solutions.
- Design simple processes for running the network infrastructure.
- Automate defined processes to eliminate human error and increase availability and standards.
- Define secure connectivity paths between Azure and Secure DCs to enable hybrid services.
- Consult with service owners to help them create secure, easy to troubleshoot, and highly available services on top of our network (Example: help them to create comprehensive hardware load balancer ( HLB) Health checks).
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
- OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- 8+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automatio
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 1+ Year IP networking fundamentals and experience in the application of IP/Routing protocols (i.e., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/UDP, IPSEC/MACSec, HTTP/HTTPS).
- Experience with designing and implementing network architectures that include hybrid Cloud/on-prem deployments in lager, secure datacenter environments.
- Experience in enterprise automation using PowerShell, Perl, Python, YAML/Ansible, C# or equivalent.
- Comprehensive troubleshooting skills across the OSI layer (Switching, Routing, and application/layer 7 Firewalls).
- Experience with design for global availability (GTM, DNS, Anycast, IP Management)
- Experience with designing and implementing application load balancing (LTM/HLB).Ability to work as a team player including mentoring and sharing of knowledge.
- Ability to work effectively across teams to drive business and technology decision and take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision.
- Professional communication and writing skills.
- Desire to learn new skills.
Additional Content:
Cloud Network Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.
