The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at California State University, Fullerton and fits within the overall mission of the University. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant Athletics Director, Sports Medicine (Administrator II). The Assistant Athletics Director, Sports Medicine is responsible for the development, organization, and administration of the sports medicine program, including managing a team of Athletic Trainers. Consults with higher level management and develops and recommends program policies and procedures to the athletic administration for implementation, ensuring compliance with provisions of the applicable NCAA and NAT A bylaws, OSHA and HIPPA. Collaborates with the Director of Athletic Training Education Program in the supervision and education of athletic training students. Assigns and ensures needed coverage for practices, home events and team travel. Monitors all injury reports and rehabilitation plans and progress. Develops and monitor athletic training program budget including equipment and supplies for the athletic training facility. Independently exercises considerable latitude in determining and achieving objectives on a day-to-day basis to meet established goals. Interprets, applies and recommends modifications to departmental and campus policies as necessary. Works under general direction under broad goals set by Director. Other duties as assigned
Master’s degree from an accredited university in athletic training or related field of study. Athletic training certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association – Board of Certification. Two years of experience as a certified Athletics Trainer in a collegiate environment. A comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of Athletic Training including conditioning, injury prevention, injury assessment and rehabilitation. Knowledge of physical therapy modalities and treatment protocols to provide a standardized care for the student-athlete. Computer skills utilizing Windows, Word, Excel, and scheduling software programs. Demonstrates the leadership, organizational, and administrative skills involved in coordinating an athletic training and sports medicine program. Supervisory experience.
