This position, in collaboration with the CSU Health Network, is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the student-athlete mental health and performance program for a NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program. This position is responsible for providing one-on-one counseling, individual consultations, personal development sessions, collaboration with campus-wide drug and alcohol initiatives, partnering with on and off campus entities, and collaboration and consultation with team physicians regarding participation for student-athletes in the event of mental health crisis. This position will be a part of the Department of Athletics, working with performance team members, coaches, and student-athletes on a daily basis, and may require travel and/or varied work hours to include some nights and weekends. This position is responsible for promotion of the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program including adhering to the Department’s mission statement and guiding principles and CSU’s Principles of Community.

  • Four years of full-time post clinical master’s degree experience.
  • Master’s degree in a license-eligible, health-related field.
  • Four years of full-time post clinical master’s degree experience in sports psychology or counseling.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, knowledge of, and experience with culturally diverse communities in higher education.
  • Knowledge of sports psychology interventions, learning disorders, addictions/chemical dependency issues and disordered eating/eating disorders, and restrictions related to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Licensed in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain such licensure. (If currently licensed in another state, clinical supervision is required until CO license complete; Colorado licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization skills, written, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Professional experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluation effective programs for assistant student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level or equivalent.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience working with student-athletes.
