This position assigned to Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze, log, track and resolve complex software/hardware anomalies pertaining to database connectivity
  • Develop processes, evaluate, and suggest revisions to procedures for administering and supporting Mission Flight Control Center (MFCC) database systems
  • Validate MFCC databases are functioning, operational and available for end users to perform the operational duties of their job
  • Develop methods to validate the integrity of the data stored in the MFCC Databases and ensure databases are free of errors that might cause data corruptions
  • Review system and database logs for vulnerabilities and optimizations – ensure database is protected by user roles and access rights
  • Develop and enhance processes and procedures to the backup and recovery plan for the MFCC Database systems
  • Performance Monitoring and Tuning – monitoring the database server on a regular basis to identify bottlenecks and tune appropriately
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Advanced understanding of Computer Networking Operations
  • Advanced Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) as related to Oracle database software
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, with the capability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate, and collaborate with team members
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot operating systems and server applications
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows 2003 Server administration
  • Advanced understanding of databases, including data flow and functional products
  • Perform system backups and standard administrator duties
  • Ability to effectively present information to upper management and customers
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram and textual form
  • Ability to handle classified material

Required Experience

  • BS degree in an associated discipline. (Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering)
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience with system administration and related Information Systems, Computer/Network Security, Database Operations and Concepts

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Regularly required to sit or stand at workstation consoles to type on a keyboard
  • Working in main computer room and workstation area, monitoring multi-color monitors which display dashboards, listings, and reports
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Must be able to obtain a Security+ Certification within 6 months of being hired.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

The salary range for this role is $76,970 – $120,485; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
