General Description of Duties: The Tech Trainer is an entry-level trainer with some working knowledge of computer systems, who is responsible training DiverseIT clientele on basic technology skills. This includes over the phone and in-person instruction and answering of questions and tracking those trainings in our CRM system (Salesforce). Will respond to calls, voice messages, and in-person visits, tracking requests computers, training classes, computer repairs. Conducts training for members of the public as well as a diverse group of students and on-the-job trainees through DiverseIT. Trains small groups or individuals one-on-one, either in person or online, on the basics of computer operation, how to avoid scams, using social media, how to put a computer together, and more, using existing curriculum. Helps the team refurbish computers, loads software, and preps computer systems to give away to people with disabling conditions, seniors, or people with disadvantages in our community. Sets up appointments with recipients and provides a basic orientation to the client about how the system runs and some entry-level computer skills. Helps DiverseIT to successfully handle donations of IT equipment including fielding calls and emails about donations, helping to pick up donations, sorting and organizing donations, and finally e-cycling materials we do not need for the program or cannot use. This includes keeping our inventory of computers and peripherals organized and the site clean and presentable.
Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred. Must have at least two (2) years of work experience in IT or related field. Some experience in training is highly desirable. Knowledge of advanced computer software applications basic computer hardware, and basic Accounting principles required. Basic software and hardware troubleshooting preferred. Must have the ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante. Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers. Must have the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Other Requirements: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must be able to occasionally sit, walk, climb and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull, and, and carry as required to perform essential job duties. Must have sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to complete and demonstrate computer repairs. Must have the ability to maintain harmonious, courteous, and considerate relationships, while fostering a collaborative teamwork environment with both agency employees and the public, and to present a friendly, courteous image for the Agency to the general public, customers, and public officials.
