About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Chief of Staff / VP, Finance Strategic Initiatives to organize and oversee the daily operations of our Finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, serving as her point person, and maximizing her efficiency, the new hire will ensure that the Finance department is well-coordinated and productive. The Chief of Staff will plan operational activities, drive process efficiencies, and facilitate accelerating development and long-term success.
You Will:
- Evaluate and improve the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational goals.
- Revise, create, and implement policies as well as operational efforts.
- Assess overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics.
- Gain a solid understanding of Dow Jones’ business and strategy.
- Promote the CFO’s vision to the broader team to ensure agreement and productivity.
- Prepare and brief the CFO on thoughtful, clear, and concise talking points for meetings and events, including employee town halls and executive leadership meetings.
- Instill a sense of teamwork and loyalty within the broader team to inspire and motivate others around growth plans; Act as eyes and ears to ensure such plans are implemented.
- Initiate and spearhead special projects.
- Facilitate decision-making with the CFO and Senior leadership team, acting as confidant, sounding board, and advisor to offer sound perspective and guidance.
- Create/facilitate communication channels, strategies, and tactics that support business goals.
- Build trusted relationships with important partners within the organization to produce proper levels of awareness and adoption of the team’s objectives.
- Maintain and socialize plans to ensure all teams have the most up-to-date information.
You Have:
- 15+ years of related experience to include at least 10 years as Chief of Staff, Business Director, or similar roles supporting a Chief Financial Officer
- Business operations, process design, and project management experience
- Ability to summarize the most important points from high-level vision and information
- Ability to operate independently with excellent time management skills and confirmed ability to deliver on multiple, competing priorities in a dynamic environment
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills to partner across all levels
- Proven ability to follow through on complex projects from idea to implementation

Pay Range: $140,000 – $450,000
