What will you be doing in your role?
- You will be an Education Navigator by assessing client aptitude and academic abilities.
- You will coach clients to choose the best academic path for them. Assisting them as they navigate the educational systems & processes to achieve their educational goals.
- You will use coaching in order to really get to know your client and be able to develop a trusting relationship where the client feels empowered to create their own goals, act as an accountability partner to maintain or adjust client goals.
- You will move families out of poverty by engaging and monitoring clients, utilizing the coaching method to think strategically about financial options that the client may employ that will result in movement out of poverty.
- You develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized service plan with the client to address identified needs within established time frame.
- You complete all necessary documentation to ensure compliance with funding requirements, licensing requirements, and agency quality assurance standards.
- You develop educational approaches for diverse populations; assists clients with the admissions process, transitioning to/navigating the community college system and selecting coursework appropriate to skills and goals.
- You work with local community college to administer tuition assistance to clients. Also responsible for assisting clients with emergency financial assistance and helping clients access other financial asset building programs.
- You perform comprehensive educational career path assessments on clients.
- You cultivate positive relationships with internal and external partners and participate in internal and external collaborations.
- You provide transportation for self-and/or clients to off-site locations, including client residences.
- You initiate and completes case closure when appropriate.
- You are familiar with community resources and other supports to provide clients with appropriate referrals as needed.
- You maintain all records of communication and data collected from clients in online database system.
Are you the next Client Navigator?
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work or a related field is required.
- Master’s Degree in social work or a related field is preferred
- Experience in higher education or college advisement, and networking preferred
- Familiarity with low-income populations, and first-generation college students
- Bilingual skills in a common client language are preferred
- Must have reliable transportation, a current Texas driver’s license, and evidence of auto liability insurance
