Job Title: Medical Segment Manager
Location: Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
Pay Rate: $80 per hour
Duration: Indefinite
Job Description:
The incumbent has responsibility of the Medical Films Segment in North America. In this role they are responsible to support the development of the global segment strategy for the respective segment by providing the necessary regional input. The Segment Manger will be tasked with identifying new applications for specialty films products. They will be responsible for strategy execution and leading and collaborating with the other commercial team members in order to archive the growth margin targets and segment objectives.
Marketing Strategy
o Identify market trends and growth segments in the respective region and prepares segment strategies (applying 5P) to exploit market opportunities
o Develop the 3-5-year Marketing/Commercial Strategy for the Medical Films Segment and drive implementation setting for Sales and innovation groups
o Develop & and support the prioritization of the project pipeline to specify Covestro materials in the market segment – take the lead for regional/important projects
o Design and execute targeted promotional campaigns
Business Development
o Guide business development activities of sales team with segment specific insights to develop the opportunity pipeline
o Identify market trends, changing customer needs, and new material requirements to lead to generation of new product ideas
o Build effective direct relationships with selective key members of the value chain including customers and business partners in the respective market segment
o Gather technical requirements from potential customers (OEMs, device and equipment manufactures) and match against Covestro product portfolio. Execute voice of customer engagement, market segmentation, and unmet needs analysis
o Perform market analysis & business model development
o Analyze competitive landscape and competitor offerings to clearly drive differentiation for Covestro in the respective segment
o Segment Product Portfolio & New Product Development
o Oversee segment pricing and collaborate closely with RPM/GPM to define target prices for products and sub-segments
o Trigger and managing new product developments necessary to meet regional sub-segment demands from the customer
o Work with R&D/Application Development to support the development of innovation product pipeline
o Accountability for go-to-market and product launch packages executed within the region
Accountability
o Accountable for strategy development execution in order to achieve the growth margin targets in the respective segment
o Accountable for market engagement strategy and execution in the region
o Accountable for determining value propositions of medical films in the market, identifying the targets, and developing the strategy to engage the targets and win the business
o Accountable for new product sales and jointly responsible with PM & R&D for the mid – long term innovation pipeline in the segment
What you Offer:
Basic Qualifications
o BS Degree in technical discipline or BS degree in Marketing or Business (or related field) with a technical background and at least 10 years of combined experience in one or several the following
• Technical business development
• Market analysis/segmentation in the medical devices/equipment field
• Technical application development
• Technical sales
o Significant commercial experience in the medical devices/equipment/supplies industry
Preferred Qualifications:
o Additional post graduate degree in Marketing or management
o Experience in the polymer industry
o Experience in the tape or films business
o Experience in the wearables/printed electronics markets
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
o Proven track record in developing profitable business
o Strong financial and business acumen
o Team player, excellent networking and customer relationship building skills
o Demonstrated project management expertise
o Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
o Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
o Ability to translate development activities into commercially viable technologies and products
o Strong computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
o Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence others
o Excellent written and spoken English
o Sees the big picture, demonstrates strategic mindset and drives execution – digs into the details and takes action
o Resourceful and proactive in solving problems and managing projects.
o High degree of personal integrity
o Willingness to travel (25-50%) some international travel may be required
