SPECIAL NOTES:
This is an internal agency employment opportunity for current employees, including OPS, of the Department of Financial Services, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of Insurance Regulation.
Four (4) or more years of insurance or insurance related professional work experience in the insurance industry OR a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management from an accredited college or university is required.
Additional requirements:
- Experience collecting, evaluating and analyzing data.
- Experience applying the Florida Statutes, rules, regulations directly or indirectly relating to insurance matters.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Experience proofreading detailed documents preferred.
Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel, when necessary, within the State of Florida and occasionally overnight on short notice.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprints and a driving record review as a condition of employment.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to conduct fact-finding research.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Audits Criminal Proceeding, Failure to Report Administrative Action, Notice of Temporary Suspension, Title Surcharge, Data Filing, Reciprocal Action, and Failure to Maintain Surety Bond investigative Legal files submitted by Bureau Investigators to determine legal sufficiency. Review files to ensure that proper writing techniques have been implemented and that the file follows the correct format. Analyzes investigative reports to ensure appropriate levels of investigative analysis, completeness of documentation, accuracy of communications, and adherence to investigative procedures.
Determines by analysis which files are acceptable to warrant submission to the Office of the General Counsel for further review and those which either need additional investigative work, format corrections or to be returned for lack of substance and sufficiency. Determines which investigative files will be considered for the internal Settlement Stipulation Program and which files warrant direct submission to the Office of the General Counsel. Makes recommendations regarding settlement of investigation cases.
Reviews subpoena requests from investigative staff for proper statute citation and verbiage. Creates and processes subpoenas.
Reviews and analyzes documents for public records requests to determine needed areas of redaction.
Assistant Editor for the division newsletter, provides creative content, layout assistance and reviews and proofreads prior to publication.
Inputs Orders and Administrative Actions in our investigative database (EMILI) and updates investigative alerts in ALIS.
Receives and reviews field expenses, compiles and processes the Bureau’s monthly expense report, as needed.
Compiles and distributes licensing follow-up cases to field investigative staff.
Provides constructive feedback to other team members to promote team effectiveness and efficiency in processing timely and accurate investigative reports of insurance licensees.
Research and compile FINRA non-resident action audit for distribution to field staff.
Review, refer and track investigative referrals to field staff.
Research, review, and compile list of Service Point NOIs for management review and referral to field staff.
Performs special projects assigned by the Bureau Chief or Deputy Bureau Chief with an emphasis on fact-finding research and analysis that improves the design of business processes and specialized applications that support Bureau initiatives.
Performs other duties as required.
