Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Promote positive public relations between Beeville ISD, the community, and all stakeholders. Prepare and provide information to the public about the activities, goals, and policies of the school district. Serve as point of contact and district coordinator for all foundation programs.
Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrate skills in writing, proofreading, editing, and desktop publishing
  • Develop a cohesive communication strategy
  • Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, parents, or the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignments on short notice with little or no direction
  • Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media and public relations techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of media relations and public relations functions

Experience:

5 years of journalism and/or communications experience preferred
