About the Position
The Cal-AIM Medical Biller, under the direct supervision of the Controller, will provide support to the day-to-day billing functions of the Finance Department, and is responsible for the processing of all Medical client-related billing and submission of bills for reimbursement from various Supportive Health Services (SHS) programs. This position will work collaboratively with the SHS Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports (CS) as part of the Cal-Aim Services program team and partnering third-party agencies, and will ensure that billing, reports, policies and procedures are maintained and followed.
Core Duties:

- Follow all LifeSTEPS policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Work closely with each Lead Care Manager to receive all information related to client services provided throughout each month.
- Receive and manage a client list from intake to exit and until reimbursement has been received and logged.
- Assign billing codes to ECM and CS services for every client, every month.
- Produce a comprehensive invoice for outreach and monthly encounters for each MCP.
- Review and issue medical invoices to Managed Care Plan (MCP) parties.
- Review and ensure accuracy and assist in identifying discrepancies. Match invoices to MCP claims.
- Ensure invoices, claims and payments are processed within department, program and contractual requirements.
- File and maintain claim documentation with corresponding invoices.
- Communicate with MCPs, Cal-AIM Services Director and Controller to resolve billing issues.
- Assist in developing fiscal and financial policies and procedures.
- Assist in preparation of annual audits.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: The minimum qualifications and training for this position are:
- Associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
- Two years Medical billing and coding experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree
