Contracts Advisor

ENGIE North America is seeking a Contracts Advisor to be located at The Ohio State University in Columbus OH. and will report to the Director of Capital Projects.

This candidate is responsible for negotiation, development, and administration of the contracts related to capital improvement projects for campus energy systems. These systems encompass the infrastructure for the production and distribution of chilled water, hot water, and steam, along with the electricity and natural gas networks. The Contracts Advisor will also liaise and share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices with the other members of the Contracts Team in Houston, Georgetown University, and University of Iowa.

What you’ll do:

  • Leads the contracting process of all capital improvement projects at Ohio State University
  • Develops the Request for Proposal (RFP) packages relying on documentation from the project team members to provide a complete package meeting the project schedule and incorporating stakeholder requirements
  • Drives the contract bidding process for contracts as bidder single point of contact using coordination meetings, site visits and issuing RFP addenda as required
  • Spearheads the negotiations with the selected bidder using a documented process and good judgment to resolve scope and terms and conditions differences
  • Facilitates the procurement process of services and materials via the creation of master service agreements, subcontract agreements, master purchase agreements, master consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other vendor-related agreements for services and materials
  • Prepares final contract, award letter and Notice to Proceed as appropriate
  • Develops a relationship with qualified equipment vendors, suppliers, construction contractors, and design/engineering firms
  • Reviews Change Order Requests and drives the negotiations with the supplier/contractor, the project team and relying on the contract terms. Negotiates schedule and cost impacts in an effort to preserve the contracting pla
  • Prepares project close-out documentation using provisional acceptance and final acceptance contract documentation requirements.
  • Provides support to project managers on contractual claims and disputes.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the ENGIE subsidiaries and our partners and encourage knowledge sharing.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with the University staff.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

What you bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or Bachelor of Business Administration or a relevant degree
  • 7+ years of experience in a related field

  • Experience in construction projects, working at sites, managing subcontractors, contracts administration and change management
  • Strong understanding of project execution and project related tax, finance, insurance, and legal issues

  • Salary Range: $108,700 – $182,000 USD annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
