Fidelity Institutional is embarking on a journey to modernize and reinvent all aspects of its trading infrastructure and client facing trading technology. Key components of our trading ecosystem include client-configurable trading rules and restrictions, internally configurable trading rules, and order validation checks necessary to efficiently process orders before sending to market. Consolidating these core processing capabilities into one system that supports both our clients and key internal personnel is one of the stated goals of our trading redesign. Your work will be a key component in creating visibility, driving client satisfaction, and streamlining operational processes while reducing both risk and the cost of ownership. You will partner with both clients and internal stakeholders to envision the new application, and then work with the team and technology partners to complete this vision.
As the squad leader/ product manager you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, design product roadmaps and define resource requirements. You will ensure alignment on the “what”, “why” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
- Series 99
- 8-10 years of work experience
- Brokerage experience required and some familiarity in building trading capabilities strongly preferred
- Hands on experience delivering sophisticated technical projects requiring collaboration across organizations
- Strong relationship building and leadership skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Agile experience preferred, but not required
- You take a data-driven approach to understanding client needs, you optimally translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize effectively to enhance value delivered
- You have a continuous improvement attitude and encourage an Agile way of working
- You are motivated by working collaboratively to deliver agreed business outcomes, drawing on the expertise of colleagues to inform the approach and remove impediments to making progress
- You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams
- You have a proven track record to coach, lead and develop associates
- Defining, refining, and communicating the mission of the squad to squad members to empower and rally support
- Anticipating, discovering, and prioritizing client / stakeholder needs to serve as the voice of the clients / stakeholders and guide execution of the squad
- Measuring performance through established KPIs and deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results
- Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments to making progress
- Drive growth for the business through the development of new trading capabilities
- Empower FCCS’ clients by extending solutions that create efficiencies for their key workflows
- Drive operational scale by improving our model of supporting existing business, with an eye towards simplifying the product offering and reducing the cost of running the business
The Team
You will work in partnership with the Product Area Leader, members of the squad, and chapter leaders supporting your squad members. By role modeling and promoting agile and Fidelity leadership principles, you will promote and sustain an innovative agile culture.
