JOB TITLE: City Attorney Legal Intern
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Seasonal Full-Time

SUPERVISOR: City Attorney
SALARY: $3,000 per Month
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The City Attorneys Office is seeking seasonal/full-time legal intern who possess a combination of strong research, legal writing, and communication skills. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Attorney.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct legal research.
- Draft legal memorandum.
- Assist the City Attorney, Deputy City Attorney and City Prosecutor, as necessary.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- This position requires an ability to:
- Plan, prioritize, and carry out legal research and writing assignments and complete projects with minimum supervision.
- Professionally and courteously deal with people, including co-workers, attorneys, elected officials, judges, and the public.
- Must be adaptable and able to perform multiple tasks seamlessly, professionally, and courteously under varying levels of stress.
- This position requires skills in:
- Legal Research using Westlaw.
- Legal Writing using Microsoft Office.
- Working within deadlines to timely complete projects and assignments.
- Establishing and maintaining effective work relations with, co-workers, attorneys, and others having any interactions with the City Attorneys office.
- Operating a computer utilizing a variety of commonly used and specialized software applications.
- This position involves knowledge of:
- Court policies, processes, and procedures.
- Legal terminology.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
Law student at a Credited School.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment:
