New York | Assistant Technical Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Assistant Technical Designer to join the Technical Design RTW team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare for fittings by measuring and inspecting fit samples.
  • Assist Tech team in the fitting and take detail photo and notes.
  • Coordinate fit meetings with modeling agencies and all teams at the direction of the manager.
  • Assist in creating fit comments and tech packs.
  • Create label/hangtag and print placement for each style.
  • Perform clerical duties such as organize fit sample/paper patterns by season, detail fit photos by categories and seasons.
  • Organize fit boards in Miro, maintain and update all fit sample status.
  • Assist sample room manager during fashion show.
  • Prepare shipping documents and shipping packages to vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of apparel and construction design
  • General knowledge of pattern making and grading
  • General knowledge of apparel production process
  • Skill with problem solving and clearly outlining solutions
  • Skill in working with computer software programs: Microsoft Outlook, excellent in Illustrator, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to organize time effectively to multitask and meet various, strict deadlines
  • Experience of working with sample room, patternmakers and sewers is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

SALARY & BENEFITS:

The compensation for this position ranges from $50,000 – 55,000 (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. In addition, there is a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, various paid time off programs, employee discount/perks, and a retirement plan with employer contribution.
