The Opportunity
The Nuclear Instrumentation Engineer position is within the I&C Products organization in the I&C Business Unit which is responsible for modernizing instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants. This opportunity is located in Lynchburg, Virginia.
What You’ll Do at Framatome
You will be responsible for Nuclear Instrumentation. Typical assignments include:
- Research and Development (R&D) of reactor instrumentation products, technologies, and processes
- Plan and participate in Design Reviews
- NRC licensing support and submittal preparation
- Project Engineering and Task Leadership/Oversight
- Configuration Management (both hardware and software-related)
- Performing training, both at Framatome and on customer site, supporting the systems provided by the organization.
- Cross-collaboration with other Framatome I&C organizations, as well as other engineering organizations
- On-site customer support for equipment installation
- Support Zero-Power Physics Testing
Required Experience
What You’ve Accomplished
You have completed a BS in Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering. You may have also obtained an advanced degree in similar fields. You have worked in an Engineering role for at least 5 years and are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology.

You may have also acquired the following skills:
- Strong Analytic ability
- Strong problem identification and resolution
- Leadership Experience
- Extensive knowledge of reactor instrumentation and sensors equipment and use
- I&C Hardware and/or Software Design experience
- Project Engineering experience
- Demonstrated project management skills, including cost and schedule control
- Nuclear Plant Operations experience, knowledge of plant systems
- Technical knowledge of BWR/PWR design and operation
- Strong analytical ability, along with problem identification and resolution skills
- Experience performing primary Nuclear Instrumentation Engineering tasks described above
Our total rewards package
The range of base salary for the position is between $91,000 – $124,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
