Airfreight Export Team Leader

The Airfreight Export Team Leader will supervise the product team under the general supervision of the product manager or Operations Director. The Team Leader will support operating efficiency, with a specific focus on productivity and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes service failures across multiple departments and actions or escalates findings to ensure their timely resolution and preventative measures are being taken (i.e. billing discrepancies, claims, delays…etc)
  • Archives all shipment related documents
  • Assigns tasks as required to internal departments based on the nature of the request
  • Confirms shipment-level profitability and escalates any loss-making or low margin shipments to supervisor
  • Controls commercial documentation required for export or import declaration and other regulatory agencies or requirements (AES, DPS, Hazmat, AMS)
  • Actions the resolution of any accounts payable issues within area of responsibility.
  • Prepares house airway bill pouch and labels
  • Processes external billing based on quotations, established contract rates and standard tariffs and verifies if additional charges were incurred such as trucker waiting time
  • Responsible for the export compliance including Denied Party Screening and AES filing
  • Serves as a liaison between the client, vendors and government agencies
  • Actively pursues feedback from team members and customers to identify opportunities to increase service levels, productivity, and profitability
  • Acts as senior product subject matter expert
  • Monitors file profitability and escalates pro-actively to product and sales management to ensure that quoted services and pricing are adjusted to achieve profitability
  • Monitors, assigns, and ensures the resolution of any accounts payable issues within area of responsibility
  • Validates product staff understand and comply with customer and company standard operating procedures
  • Assists management by proactively providing input on talent acquisition, re-assignment, demotion, and promotion
  • Contributes and/or participates to regular employee performance review meetings and sets performance goals to drive employee development
  • Ensures all assigned employees are trained, certified, and re-certified periodically
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises employees and may supervise temporary employees from time to time based on projects.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred to have either an Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum five years of experience in the airfreight export role required
  • Completion of any industry related course is an asset
