Position: Senior Design Researcher
Job Location: 850 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066
Duties: Reviews customer/member-focused data and adjusts performance to address findings. Promotes and supports associate efforts to exceed customer/member expectations. Assists associates with how to identify and locate resources to meet the diverse needs of customers/members. Acts as user experience research consultant by providing recommendations for appropriate research to inform product development roadmap. Develops and delivers insights on user interaction with current and proposed designs by designing primary research programs across product initiatives requiring site-wide and key revenue driving pages; using research methods (quantitative or qualitative); leading, planning, and executing research activities. Identifies, reviews, and applies policies and procedures to make informed judgments. Identifies and uses facts, information, and expertise to set priorities and make informed decisions. Uses data and evidence to determine the causes of problems and develops solutions to address them. Coordinates and aligns planning with organizational initiatives and direction. Reviews work plans and makes changes, as needed, to achieve team or work group objectives. Sets realistic timelines for goal accomplishment. Improves work processes and practices to increase performance and results. Demonstrates creativity and strength in the face of change, obstacles, and adversity. Adapts to competing demands and shifting priorities.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s Degree in Engineering (any), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Technical Writing or related field and 1 year of design research experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (any), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Technical Writing or related field and 3 years of design research experience.
Skills required: Experience with User Experience research methodologies and contributing to educational research modules for the User Experience practice. Experience providing recommendations for appropriate research to inform product development roadmap. Experience developing and delivering insights on user interaction with current and proposed designs by designing primary research programs across product initiatives requiring site-wide and key revenue driving pages. Experience using qualitative or quantitative research methods. Experience leading, planning, and executing research activities including field studies, focus groups, surveys, and usability studies. Experience gathering and analyzing data, drawing conclusions from data, creating reports and metrics to measure feature performance, and providing consumer-specific information and data to support management decisions. Experience managing the research relationship with contractors, and suppliers by creating requests for proposals (RFPs). Experience reviewing, evaluating, and modifying user experience research designs and analyses. Experience driving and recommending proactive broad based, site-wide research programs by understanding business objectives and analyzing customer needs. Experience coordinating, completing, and overseeing job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Experience developing and maintaining relationships with Product Management team, User Experience team, and business teams by serving as the subject matter expert regarding the multi-channel customer. Experience developing and communicating usability and product improvement recommendations to Product Management team, User Experience team, and senior management. Experience ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and supporting company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: The annual salary range for this full-time position is $136,000/year to $200,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
