Description
Do you have a child under 10 and want to bring them to work? As a Child Watch Provider you may bring up to two of your children (age 18 months – 10 years) to child watch free of charge while working. All employees also receive a FREE Recreation pass!
Hires must be willing and available to work a regular morning schedule on a year-round basis. Child Watch at the Paul Derda Recreation Center is scheduled for various hours that may change based on the need of the department.
Hiring Range: $13.65 – $15.70/hour
This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of children placed in the care of the Recreation Services Department while the parents are participating in on-site recreation activities or classes.
Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties
General tasks of this position:
- Independently monitor and supervise children who participate in the Recreation Services on-site child watch facilities and the Indoor Playground
- Ensure that the environment is safe and friendly
- Interact and play with children in activities that can include the following actions: running, reading, drawing, coloring, talking, walking and singing
- Check children in and out through the computer system
- Take out and pick up toys (up to 15 lbs.)
- Pick up and carry children as required (up to 20 lbs.)
- Change diapers as required
- Administer first aid treatment, providing emergency services when necessary
Minimum Qualifications
Training – 8th grade education or equivalent.
Experience – Prior experience working with or caring for children ages six months and over is preferred.
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: – Must be at least 16 years of age. Must possess or obtain American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification and CPR Certifications within 60 days of hire and maintain for continued employment. Applicants must, as a condition of employment, pass any or all of the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, background checks including local police check and sex-offender check.
