Virginia Tech Pesticide Programs is seeking a part-time, 1500 hour wage multimedia technician. The position offers flexible scheduling and the possibility of remote work options. Major responsibilities include creating, editing, organizing, and curating digital media content in an online repository. The candidate will also assist the education support specialist in developing online instructional content that incorporates a variety of multimedia approaches to engage online learners and meet the needs of pesticide safety educators. The candidate will be encouraged to use their creativity to advance novel approaches in delivering educational content to non-traditional learners.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in agriculture life sciences, communications, information/library sciences, graphic design, art, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in development and/or curation of multimedia content.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs and photo/video editing software.
• Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a group.
• Strong organizational skills, and ability to re-prioritize tasks as demands for resources and information vary.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong photography and videography skills
• Experience in creating educational content
• Experience in preservation and digitization of multimedia content
• Proficiency with Camtasia, Canvas, Audacity, Kaltura
