Job Summary

The Social Worker Intake for Adult Protection makes immediate and accurate assessments of reports and crisis situations for protective responses to vulnerable members of the community. The Worker consistently monitors SSIS to obtain Adult Protection reports from MN Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC), acquires collateral information regarding the reports, requests supporting documentation, research current and past county involvement, and ensures responses when emergency protective services are identified. The Worker receives time-sensitive requests for Pre-Petitions Screenings for Civil Commitment, completes follow-up and ensures responses. Manages the application process for case management services, therapeutic services and serves as point person for Telehealth access. The Social Worker – Adult Protection Intake provides emergency and general information, as well as referrals to resources in the Department, community, and surrounding areas. Provides cross reporting services to other social services and law enforcement agencies and supports other intake requirement of the department.
Examples of Duties
- Manages intake referrals for case management services.
- Manages intake log in Social Services Information System (SSIS) for Adult Protection from MAARC, reviews reports, screens with Adult Protection Screening Team, completes required reporting and intake in SSIS, and sends initial disposition letter to reporters.
- Refers clients to resources in the community, assists with managing the Telehealth Program, and provides assistance for inter-agency staff where necessary.
- Attends training sessions and staff/community meetings.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related human services field, and one to three years supervised experience working in a social services, or equivalent. A valid Driver’s license is required upon hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Social Work and experience as a county Social Worker in the area of intake services. Bi-lingual in Somali or Spanish preferred.
Supplemental Information
HIRING RANGE / UNION: $32.24 – $45.22 per hour / SS Unit – Grade 12
HOURS: Business hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
