Position Description
New York Life is seeking a highly qualified individual to support the policy administration operations of its Disability Income Solutions (DIS) business. The DIS Policy Administration Manager will work on a day-to-day basis with our third-party administrator (TPA) in managing the DIS policy administration operations. This individual will work with colleagues at all levels across functional lines (e.g., product, compliance, marketing, agency, service, claim, finance, technology) as well as New York Life’s partners (e.g., TPA, reinsurer, vendors). This role requires someone who can work autonomously, manage multiple activities simultaneously, and collaborate across the company, and has excellent business judgement, and an entrepreneurial drive to execute on both day-to-day priorities and longer-term goals. New York City is the preferred location for this position.
Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Monitor policy administration operations, identifying and addressing concerns to ensure performance standards are met or exceeded
- Address day-to-day policy administration operational issues that arise, managing the resolution of issues, and elevating them to the appropriate managers, as required
- Monitor TPA service level performance and quality control activities to ensure compliance
- Manage reconciliation and payment of TPA and other vendors
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Maintain DIS knowledge management materials
- Manage user access to technology systems
- Develop and maintain of all DIS policy administration procedures, process flows and training documents
- Maintain, update and, as required, draft all DIS policy administration templates for client and agent communications
- Manage DIS documents on Forms Library
- Coordinate DIS records management
Ad Hoc Responsibilities
- Actively support a wide range of DIS projects, especially those involving policy administration operations
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners to identify and develop solutions to operational problems and opportunities for improvement
- Work on requests to gather data, conduct research and quantitative and qualitative analysis to generate insights and make recommendations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
- 5 – 7 years related work experience
- 3+ years in insurance industry preferred
- Proven critical thinking, analytical and quantitative capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and analysis into business insights and problem solving
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills; must be able to communicate with internal and external business partners, agents and clients; enabling the creation and presentation of a broad range of materials
- Comfortable managing ambiguity
- Ability to work with multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Self-starter with a keen sense of ownership, commitment to the work and results orientation
- Collaborative work style and experience working effectively with individuals at all levels of seniority
- Capable of successfully working both on teams and individually
- Ability to quickly absorb a variety of different subject matters
- High attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
- Highly proficient at working with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel Word and SharePoint required
