Product Engineer II – DevOps

Overview

Esri’s DevOps Product Engineer will represent our DevOps Engineers and have a solid foundation of project management skills, particularly focusing on cloud and SaaS. Do you have the expertise to smoothly orchestrate Esri’s projects for our ArcGIS Online product? In this role you would proactively serve as a liaison to cross-collaborative teams, advocating for established best practices and deployment patterns to enable quicker release cycles and unlock developer potential. Responsibilities

  • Use Project/Program/Product management skills to assist in all software development lifecycle phases, including requirements, analysis, design, development, and deployment
  • Negotiating scope setting expectations, prioritizing, and tracking progress for internal and external requests
  • Work with ArcGIS Online component teams to learn their needs to advise engagement
  • Provide support by defining requirements and DevOps processes to scale effectively
  • Moderate status meetings and facilitate team communication
  • Maintain and structure internal documentation to empower the ArcGIS Online DevOps team and onboard new members efficiently
  • Become familiar in overall mission and operations of ArcGIS Online, including knowledge of common goals and initiatives
  • Collaborate with many other Esri teams to enable customers through your work on the largest GIS SaaS platform – real-time GIS, big data analytics, geoanalytics, open data

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-time experience managing IT based projects
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and Software as a Service (SaaS) principles
  • Clearly communicate technical ideas, with non-technical and technical peers, project managers, and customers
  • Successfully work with teams managing the lifecycle, people, and process focused abilities to define and meet requirements
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, and Microsoft’s product suite
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate and translate a customer’s goals, objectives, and strategies into technical plans and solutions
  • Be self-motivated, a proactive problem solver, team-oriented, and creative
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written/verbal communication, multi-tasking, and presentation skills
  • Ability to occasionally travel
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or technology field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) based workloads and available services
  • Experience with FedRAMP and/or HIPAA qualified systems or certification process
  • Knowledge of software engineering or robust application development principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Scrum or other Agile approaches (XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD)
  • Experience with issue management tools such as ZenHub
  • Experience with ArcGIS, location-based services, geo-enabled apps, spatial analytics, or similar geospatial technology
  • PMP (project management principles) certification or experience as a product owner, product engineer, or software product manager

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $72,800.00 – $124,800.00.
