Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Operations Engineer is responsible for reviewing production processes, inventory control, material flow, cost analysis, finance, and/or a variety of other business and technical programs to formulate and develop new or modified solutions to business issues affecting operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Together with the Manufacturing Supervision, QC Process Control, Technical Services and Quality Engineering teams, the incumbent of this position will be accountable for the performance of their assigned operational area against shared business objectives such as safety, quality, compliance, and production costs/output. The incumbent will collaborate with peers to manage performance of equipment, systems, and processes; and will work to improve the output, efficiency or quality of the associated manufactured process.
Responsibilities: Essential Duties
- Applies engineering techniques to design, develop, test and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis and production coordination.
- Applies statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements and production standards.
- Considers workflow, layout and safety measures when designing industrial plants and facilities.
- Coordinates quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability and minimize cost.
- Drafts and designs layout of equipment, materials and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer. Ensures design meets organizational and production goals.
- Will be considered a company leader or high-level consultant. Must be expert in area of specialization.
- Will determine program standards, objectives and requirements.
- Will work with key leaders to make important organizational decisions. At higher job levels will supervise large groups of employees.
- Analyzes and plans capacity, workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of workspace based on lean principles to meet business requirements.
- Creates and maintains visual management to sustain gains for stakeholders. This includes facilitating and ensuring Function or Business Units compliance to the KPIs Tier Reviews and Performance Heat Maps structure, and standards.
- Facilitates Continuous Improvement interventions (KAIZEN events), activities and employee involvement teams throughout the organization.
- Resolves Quality deviations following DMAIC and PDCA methodologies.
- Assures that predicted savings and other financial benefits are tracked, validated, reported, and applied to organization’s operating results.
- Assists Business Units to eliminate waste and improve processes with targets, objectives and schedules consistent with strategic analysis and plans; coordinate Business Unit Lean savings plans, goals and objectives.
- Serves as a continuous improvement agent. Provides leadership, coaching, and training in Lean thinking, Lean production, and 6 Sigma.

- Works under general supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning & checking the work of other peers.
- Judgement is required in resolving all day-to-day problems
- Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Occasional contact with external contractors/vendors.
- Experience working in a Manufacturing environment (Pharmaceutical/Medical device) preferred.

Target Based Range
$71,640 – $89,560
