GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine clerical and custodial duties, welcomes guests, and ensures that a clean and safe environment is provided for patrons. This position serves the public in the capacity of pool admissions, membership sales, answering the telephone, food preparation, and food sales, and assists with community events. Applicants must enjoy working with people, and be enthusiastic, reliable, and punctual.

Works under the close supervision of the Recreation Services Director.

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists front desk by answering the telephone, taking accurate messages, providing information to the public, membership sales, and swim lessons sales.
- Complete cash and credit card transactions, operate a cash register and credit card machines, give correct change, maintain appropriate activity and cash reports, and follow proper money handling procedures.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Be aware of all Wellness Center and Aquatic Center rules, policies, and procedures.
- Always presents a professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Perform facility opening and closing procedures.
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
- Aquatic Center pool gate and concessions cashier. Taking cash payments at the pool gate during the public pool, preparing food, collecting payments, and helping set up and close the concession stand.
- Keep inventory of food products, restock and rotate products, maintain product supplies, minimize waste, prepare, and serve food and beverages in a sanitary manner, obey health codes, and keep food protected.
- Keeps the concessions and kitchen area’s floor, counters, and equipment clean and free of clutter.
- Attend orientation, in-service training, staff, and planning meetings.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
Work closely with staff to coordinate activities, community events, parties, memberships, etc. May be asked to assist with swim lessons and/or concessions or other duties associated with recreation activities at the Lindsay Aquatic and Wellness Center. Hours and days vary based on activities and hours of operation.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Minimum age of 16, CPR/AED certified.
- California Food Handlers Safety Card
- Must be able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to swim, be of sound physical fitness, and able to pass a background check.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to deal with the public, enforce rules, and be friendly and courteous.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain neat, accurate, and organized records.
- Ability to operate a cash register, operate a credit card machine, count money, and make changes.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to perform daily cleaning tasks and job duties.
- Ability to work with others, accept suggestions, and take direction.
- Ability to work in heat and sun.
- Ability to operate food preparation equipment and dispensers.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of CPR and First Aid (emergency medical procedures).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
CPR/AED Certification, California Food Handlers Safety Card Certification (Both Certifications must be current thru 09/01/2023).
