We are a statewide grassroots movement organization that fights for political, social, racial, economic and environmental justice. We work at the grassroots to give people a sense of their own power. We collaborate with organizations and coalitions in communities throughout New York to address critical issues at the local, state and federal levels.
We’re looking to add a Digital Coordinator to our team. The Digital Coordinator’s function is to develop and execute successful digital engagement and awareness campaigns across platforms (social media, email, digital ads, video, websites and more) that are grounded in digital best practices and effectively communicate Citizen Action and PPEF visions and theories of change.

What you’ll do and the impact you’ll make:
- Create consistent, fresh and timely social media, email, website and video content that makes an impact, builds meaningful connections across our issues and campaigns, encourages engagement and advances our organizational priorities
- This includes but is not limited to: setting up emails, petitions, letter campaigns, etc.; creating electoral endorsement materials; providing support for rapid response digital actions
- Live coverage of press conferences, days of action, etc., will be required from time to time
- Draft campaign content, including email and social media content, that you will send to hundreds of thousands of supporters
- Digital ad targeting will be required from time to time
- Work with regional organizers to produce print and digital materials, including graphics, flyers, signs and brochures
- Work with Regional Communications Coordinator to manage Citizen Action’s statewide digital editorial calendar
- Aggressively monitor news and social media to identify topics with which we should engage and lead the execution of rapid response digital actions and social media campaigns
- Support the Regional Communications Coordinator with coalition partner efforts and collaborate with cross-organizational teams to develop joint strategies for digital campaigns
- Execute A/B testing plans for email and social media campaigns to optimize engagement and inspire more people to deepen their connection with the movement
- Manage broadcast texting (Strive) and events (Mobilize) platforms and provide reporting data as needed
- Manage organizational websites
- Monitor social analytics and other metrics to measure the effectiveness of Citizen Action’s digital program. Produce reports and updates on the impact of our digital communications for staff and volunteers
- Explore tools to more effectively handle incoming communications through all social media accounts
- Monitor developments in digital tools and technology to drive innovations that improve our work and help the organization achieve big victories
- Facilitate digital skills workshops for volunteers and staff
- Any other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:
- 3+ years of directly relevant experience creating social media, email, website, graphic, and other digital communications content that resonates with and engages a large audience in a relatable and impactful way
- Demonstrated experience managing social media profiles for a nonprofit, business, political candidate, or similar for 1-2 years-or experience creating social media content that resonates and engages a large audience
- Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills, as well as the ability to identify and seize opportunities to insert Citizen Action’s agenda into online public conversations
- Experience crafting and sending large-scale email, petition, and letter writing campaigns
- An eye for graphic design and experience creating impactful graphics and print materials
- Ability to see web design projects through from brainstorming to execution; experience with HTML and CSS strongly preferred
- High level of organization, including experience coordinating multiple fast-paced projects at once while meeting tight deadlines
- Familiarity with or ability and willingness to fully adopt use of tech tools, including:
- Design & website: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, WordPress
- CRM & digital campaigning: Action Network, EveryAction, VAN, Mobilize, Soapboxx, New/Mode, Spoke/Relay, Divi, Strive
- Social media: Facebook Page Manager, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook Business Manager, Buffer, Loomly or other schedulers, as well as web analytics
- Project management: Asana, Google Drive, Slack, Airtable, Zoom
- Bilingual Spanish speaker a plus

Salary: The salary range for this position is $59,400-$64,800. depending on experience, with potential increases for equivalent experience. Relocation stipend available.
This position is a hybrid position with frequent travel to Albany. In-person participation in meetings and events may be required at different locations.
This job requires travel across New York State. Overnight and weekend travel may be occasionally required. Travel may include multiple day trips and over weekends.
