Utah Valley University is seeking a student to work with the Theatre Department!
In this position you will act as the public facing member of the office staff. No strenuous activity is required, as you will be at a desk for most of your work day. You will direct correspondence from the public to the correct university faculty/staff, be part of running the day-to-day office work, and help keep the theatre department work spaces and labs in order. Other than that, there will be occasional assignments that come in from the faculty (making copies, scanning documents, etc.) and from your supervisor (depending on what they’re working on and need help with). Summary of Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- General office support, such as answering phones, data entry, customer service, filing, etc.
- Basic research.
- Professor assistance.
- Computer work.
- Other duties as needed by the department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have received a Federal Work Study referral form from the UVU Financial Aid office.
- Must be a current UVU student.
- Past experience in an office environment.
- Competence and experience in word processing, spreadsheet, and browser-based programs.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
- General knowledge of routine office procedures, such as handling mail, answering phone calls and questions, and filing.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and internet browser programs.
- Knowledge of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Writing – Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Speaking – Talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Time Management – Managing one’s own time.
- Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help people.
