Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for responding to reports from the public on recaptured marine finfish through FWC’s Tag Return Hotline, maintaining a tag-recapture database, mailing rewards for tag-return reports, running data queries and summaries, delivering requested data sets to internal and external partners, and assisting with other projects and tasks as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics and four years of professional experience in one of the physical or natural sciences or mathematics
Preferred Selection Criteria: Experience with data entry, database management, and data manipulation.
Required, entry-level knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of marine fishes, recreational and for-hire fisheries, methods used for long-term fisheries-dependent monitoring, and applications of fishery-dependent data and time-series.
- Proficient in the use of software (such as SAS, R, SQL) to manipulate large data sets and identify errors and outliers.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally, work with the public, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
This position requires the candidate to have successful completion of a level 1 background check at no cost to the candidate prior to hire.
