Talladega Superspeedway was created as a palace of speed in 1969 by NASCAR founder Bill France, Sr., who coined it “the Greatest Race Track in the World.” At a mammoth 2.66-miles with 33 degrees of banking in the turns, it is NASCAR’s Most Competitive venue. The “Fun” track prides itself on being family friendly, especially with the introduction of the Talladega Garage Experience in 2019 where guests are immersed into motorsports like never before. The host of two major NASCAR weekends a year, the iconic ribbon of asphalt is easy accessible off I-20, located between Birmingham, AL, and Atlanta, GA.

NASCAR is seeking a Partnership and Event Experience Intern who will assist in all facets of the Partnership Services and Event Experience departments. Based in Talladega, AL, this important role on our team is responsible for a variety of functions in support of the NASCAR Southeast Region (Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway). This position will report to both the Partnership Services and Event Experience departments. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented with a strong willingness to learn, desire to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to work long hours.

This position will be responsible for assisting with the following:

Event Experience Responsibilities

  • Talladega Garage Experience event preparation and post event breakdown/clean up
  • Attend pre/post event site walkthroughs & planning meetings
  • Research, plan & attend grassroots/in-market promotional events
  • Manage inventory and orders
  • Assist with on-site signage creation, placement, and content strategy
  • Manage fan experiences during events including camper activities and distribution of promotional items
  • Develop and maintain event schedules
  • Act as a point of contact during planning and execution for various entertainment (bands, driver appearances, DJs, etc.)
  • Pre-event planning and day of execution of the STEM and Kids Day Programs
  • Write post-event summaries & recaps
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Partnership Services Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of the sales process for the Sales team including inventory layouts and contract management
  • Co-manage the fulfillment process of partnership assets which includes tickets, parking social, digital, and print
  • Assist suite and hospitality clients during all major events
  • Provide support to the Special Events & Hospitality team as needed
  • Manage details of client communication pieces, including hospitality guides, letters, menus, etc.
  • Work closely with multiple departments within the organization and Southeast Region including Ticketing, Accounting, Legal, Operations, Security, NASCAR Partnership Marketing, Marketing/Digital, Business Development and Guest Services
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Events to include:

  • YellaWood 500 Event Weekend (September 30-Oct 1, 2023) – Talladega Superspeedway
  • Homestead-Miami 400 Event Weekend (October 21-22, 2023) – Homestead Miami Speedway
  • Rolex 24 Event Weekend (January 25-28, 2024) – Daytona International Speedway
  • Speedweeks at DAYTONA (February TBD, 2024) – Daytona International Speedway
  • GEICO 500 Event Weekend (April TBD, 2024) – Talladega Superspeedway

Internship dates are flexible, but at a minimum must include September 1, 2023 through May 3rd, 2024.

Position will pay $12.50/hour. | Part Time | Housing not provided
Travel to other Southeast Region events outside of Talladega, if required, will be paid by the Company.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing or Sports Management
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Must have a strong worth ethic and willingness to learn sales systems, databases, and partnership management/activation.
  • A team player who is committed to the success of the event
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of and ability to use multiple computer programs (Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.)
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays during internship
  • Willingness to learn and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Previous event or sports experience and basic knowledge of motorsports and NASCAR a plus
