Nature of Work:

Performs varied, complex secretarial and/or clerical work of above average difficulty and usually of a specialized nature. Involves complicated and varied procedures or work methods and permits reasonable initiative and independent judgment.

The primary functions of this classification are: providing information/customer service via phone and in person to visitors and staff of the Office of Business and Financial Services; assisting employees with motor pool vehicle rentals; sorting and delivering mail; scheduling meetings and interviews; maintaining complex records; gathering information and developing presentations for reports, announcements, and meetings; managing office supply inventory and conference rooms; and assisting multiple divisions with specialized projects. Position requires the application of specialized knowledge in interpretation of ordinances, rules, regulations, or procedures and ability to work independently on certain assignments. Work is performed according to general instructions and/or established guidelines, which apply to most usual work situations.

Work problems involving significant departure from standard policy or procedure are reviewed with Supervisor for final determination. Work is generally reviewed through random spot checks of records or discussion of problems; however, unusually important or complicated assignments are checked in detail upon completion. Applicant should be proficient in typing and Microsoft 365 applications.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma plus two (2) years of clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Typing speed of 35 CWPM required. A valid driver’s license and criminal background check are required.

Typing Test Information:

  • Tests are administered by invitation only.
  • Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited via email. Invitations will be sent to the email address listed on the application.
  • Applicants will have (3) three days from the date of the invitation to complete the test. Tests may be completed virtually or onsite.
  • Applicants are allowed one opportunity to pass the typing test within a posting period or any given 30 days. Scores are valid for one year
