Summary
- Leads activities and formulates strategies, policies and plans to ensure Oncor’s compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including Hazardous Materials transport (HAZMAT).
- Provides leadership as the Subject Matter Expert on DOT regulation and a direct interface between business and regulatory agencies.
- Leads the development and implementation of training and tracking programs to ensure the compliance readiness of Commercial Drivers License (CDL) holders as well as the compliance readiness of the Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) fleet.
- The Department of Transportation Compliance Supervisor will be a self-starter who will look to his/her manager for professional support but will tend to set his/her own day to day direction, may receive it directly from executives and sets direction for other team members.
- The Department of Transportation Compliance Supervisor will be expected to take an active role in mentoring and knowledge transfer with other team members and/or direct reports.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Leads cross-functional DOT Compliance initiatives, including training.
- Acts as the Subject Matter Expert on local, state and federal government current and proposed regulations regarding DOT issues, including HAZMAT.
- Leads the development and enhancement of processes related to maintaining the company’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Qualification files.
- Leads the development and delivery of training programs designed to meet DOT driver related requirements.
- Leads the development of inspection and audit programs designed to ensure the operational readiness of the Commercial Motor Vehicle fleet.

Education, Experience, & Skills
Education –
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
Experience –
- 5+ years electric utility experience and/or work related to the operation of Commercial Motor Vehicles or handling of HAZMAT materials. Direct interaction with DOT regulations is a plus.
Skill-
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal/external management, employees and other stakeholders.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with business units and service providers.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, SharePoint). Working knowledge of database systems a plus.
- Demonstrated significant leadership skills internal to their teams, the company and the industry in which we operate.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to translate complex issues into clear and concise concepts.
- Negotiation skills to represent and defend Oncor’s interests internally & externally with clients and service providers.
- Lead high performance teams that proactively collaborate with key stakeholders to accomplish assigned projects.
- Meet or exceed many simultaneous demands to support a large and varied number of projects, programs and principals both internal and external to the organization.

- Ensures that the Commercial Motor Vehicle fleet is properly maintained to meet current and pending regulatory expectations.
- Serves as principal facilitator / project coordinator over multi-faceted initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to take the lead on DOT compliance issues in a team environment
- Must quickly gain the trust of top management and be comfortable interfacing with them and their delegates in all aspects of DOT compliance.
- Level of confidence and attention to detail to be able to challenge and be challenged by upper management.
