Our Chipley, FL Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) is looking for an Assistant Supervisor. Join our team!
As an Assistant Manager, you will provide the RTMC Manager with a “second in command” who is responsible to handle daily operational and supervisory activities of the RTMC, ensure RTMC policies and procedures are followed and acts as the RTMC Manager in their absence. The RTMC Assistant Manager assists the RTMC Manager in directing and coordinating the daily operations activities of the RTMC and is responsible for the overall operations and functionality of the RTMC Operations Floor.
- Ensures that the goals and strategies of the RTMC operations plan are followed.
- Directly supervises the Lead Operations Supervisor and ensures the day-to-day supervision of the RTMC staff and resources are consistent and in accordance with procedure and policy.
- Assists with problem resolution concerning RTMC operations.
- Maintains close communications and coordination with the Gannett Fleming Project Manager in the absence of the RTMC Manager and as directed.
- Maintains close communication and coordination with the Department Contract Manager, D3 ITS Project Manager, D3 ITS Operations Manager, D3 TIM Coordinator, D3 ITS LAN Administrator, D3 TSM O/ITS Program Manager the Maintenance vendor and RRSP vendor as required to perform his duties.
- Attend meetings as directed to ensure appropriate intra and inter-agency coordination.
- Participates in Critical Incident Reviews and other TIM activities and ensure appropriate inter-agency coordination.
- Assists with the RTMC public relations activities such as the RTMC Marketing efforts at the direction of the RTMC Manager.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly reports of personnel performance measures for operators and supervisors as defined in the PPM and COO.
- Assists the RTMC Manager in conducting and maintaining a semi-annual update of the PPM and other required technical documents to conform to the current status of the ITS deployment, SunGuide® and other software systems, FDOT policy, RTMC policy and industry standards. Interim modifications to the PPM shall be conducted and documented as needed.
- As directed by the TMC Manager, responsible to ensure that changes in the PPM are documented and communicated efficiently to the Operations Staff.
- Assists in the development and modification of training materials and the update of the training to conform to updates in the PPM and COO or because of system and employee performance analysis.
- Responsible for the initial training of all operators and certification process documentation.
- Assists the RTMC Manager to ensure full staff coverage of RTMC operations as prescribed in the contract.
- Advise the RTMC Manager and the department in his/her absence, of operations control room equipment and resource problems concerning Chipley RTMC operations.
- All other tasks assigned by the RTMC Manager.
- The RTMC Assistant Manager position is a career track position which should be held by a person aspiring to be an RTMC Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of ITS supervisory/management experience in a facility/environment similar to the Northwest Florida SunGuide RTMC.
- A Bachelors’ degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university may be accepted in lieu of one (1) years’ experience.
- Supervisory and management experience in non-related fields may be considered in lieu of some related experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of ITS supervisory/management experience in a facility/environment similar to the Chipley RTMC (Northwest Florida SunGuide Center) regardless of college or other supervisory/management experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general ITS and traffic operations principles, including incident management.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership and interpersonal relationships.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general management concepts.
- Experience in the hiring process, including interviewing potential employees.
- Ability and willingness to work alternate work schedules and be on-call 24 hours/day.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in both a supervisory, subordinate and collegial relationship.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate issues in plain language verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of Windows operating system and program applications.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical reports, manuals and correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate real time activities and priorities.
- Must be able to pass a “SLERS” background check and contract mandated drug screen.
- Successful completion of FDOT approved Intermediate or Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) Training within 1 year
- SHRP2 Train the Trainer Certification within a year
