The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Manual Machinist 1st Shift (H39) to join our team. The Machinist will be responsible for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines. Additionally, the Machinist will be responsible for toolmaking, die repair, and fabrication.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Toolmaking, die repair, fabrication, and modification of custom tooling.
  2. Set-up and operation of miscellaneous CNC and/or manual machines, including mills, lathes, drills, grinders, hone, lap, deburr, etc.
  3. Machine and/or tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
  4. Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
  5. Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances/specifications.
  6. Perform inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure that parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications. Visually inspects parts to ensure they are free of burrs or damaged surfaces.
  7. Provide input and recommendations for selecting, installing, and adjusting CNC and manual machine cutting tools to ensure they are consistent with type and size of material being machined.
  8. Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements.
  9. Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensures that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.
  10. Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.
  11. Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
  12. Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards.
  13. Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell.
  14. Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
  15. Participate in the training and development of other Cellular Manufacturing Associates to promote the continuous quality improvement of manufacturing operations.
  16. Strive to accomplish team goals and enhance the quality of machined parts through the reduction of scrap and improvement of throughput.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in toolmaking and die Repair required.

Experience with the following is required:

  • Manual lathe and mill experience
  • Manual grinding
  • CNC mill and lathe experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret blue prints
  • Possess solid fundamentals in GD&T
  • Must have experience with a variety of standard and dedicated gauging approaches
  • Experience with aerospace materials such as SST, Inconels, Hast X, Aluminum, etc. is a plus.
  • U.S. Citizenship status required. Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.   • Physical lifting requirements include; ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches), capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and be able to reach above the shoulder (65 inches).

Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000
